What is HCG?
HCG is a hormone naturally produced in the human body in both men and women. HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin.
How Does HCG Work?
In 1954, Dr. Simeons discovered that HCG could acclerate fat loss in combination with a low calorie diet. HCG has the effect of "unlocking" and mobilizing the body's fat stores. Therefore, the body is comfortable on the HCG low calorie diet, as it will be burning the unwanted stored fat as fuel for energy.
As this reserve fat is burned as fuel, weight is lowered, body fat is lowered, muscle is preserved, and the body is reshaped - particularly targeting the abdomen, buttocks, and upper thighs. HCG also plays a role in establishing a new weight "set point" for the body.
No other weight loss program corrects a low metabolism, constant hunger, emotional eating, or food cravings. The HCG program resets your metabolism to a normal level. When you finish the HCG program, your hunger and appetite mechanism will be lower; and your body will burn the food you eat, so that it does not get stored as fat.
Would I Lose The Same Amount Of Weight On a Low Calorie Diet Without Taking HCG?
Absolutely not. Your body stores fat during times of food deprivation. So you would be losing weight mostly through water and muscle mass loss. And this would lead you to have a LOWER metabolism, making it easier to GAIN WEIGHT when you stopped the low caloric intake. As well, without the HCG mobilizing the fat for fuel, you would feel extremely hungry.
How Much Weight Will I Lose On the HCG Program?
On average, people following the HCG Program will lose 1/2 to 1 pound per day over the duration of the program. This amounts to 15 to 25 pounds over the 26 days of Phase 1 with HCG.

Will I Be Hungry On 500 Calories Per Day?
No. Although mild hunger may be present for the first few days of the HCG Program, this resolves quickly as the HCG levels in the body rise and mobilize more fat for fuel. Small servings then become very satisfying.
What Are the Components Of The HCG Program?
Phase 1 involves the following over either a 26 or 40 day time period depending on one's desired amount of weight loss:
- 500 calorie per day diet focussing on protein and vegetables
- 8 glasses of water per day
- 20 minutes of light exercise per day is recommended
- HCG daily
- Weekly follow-up and measurement
Phase 2 is the start of a 3 week Maintenance Phase in which there is no HCG, nor sugar and starch, and caloric intake is gradually increased.
How Is The HCG Administered?
HCG can be taken through different methods, but the most common two are: 1) oral drops, or 2) injection. Both are equally effective. The classic method used by Dr. Simeons was via injection. These are very easy and painless, using a very fine needle, much like how a diabetic would administer insulin.
How Does One Start The HCG Program?
In your first consultation with Dr. Lederman (one hour), he will review your health history, discuss your weight loss goals, and take some baseline assessments, including a body composition analysis.
Often, it is necessary to do a 2 week detoxification to prepare for the HCG program. People who do this step first have the easiest time and best success with their HCG Program results.
